The Charles E. Smith Center has served as the home of the George Washington University Department of Athletics and Recreation for more than 30 years. The Smith Center has also hosted many major events and concerts throughout the years.

Parking & Public Transportation

PARKING:

On street parking is very limited in Foggy Bottom at the best of times. Please see GWU's visitor parking information for details on where to park and the costs associated. The Smith Center does not have its own public parking garage. We encourage you to use public transportation, cabs, or rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) to get to campus.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

GWU conveniently has a metro stop located on campus: Foggy Bottom/GWU (accessed by the Blue, Orange, & Silver lines). See additional options here.

Rideshare services are recommended if you are unable to take Metro to the Law School Fair.

Directions

By Plane

If you are traveling by plane and flying directly into Ronald Reagan National Airport, you can reach the campus by taxi or rideshare services. You can also reach campus by taking the Metro Blue Line (heading in the direction of Largo). Exit at the stop marked Foggy Bottom-GWU.

If you are flying into Dulles International Airport, you can reach the campus by taxi or rideshare services. You can also reach campus by taking the Metro Silver Line (heading in the direction of Largo). Exit at the stop marked Foggy Bottom-GWU.

By Train

If you are traveling by regional train (Amtrak, Virginia Railway Express, MARC Train, etc.), you will arrive at Union Station and may taxi or rideshare to the Smith Center there. 

You can also take the Metro Red Line (heading in the direction of Shady Grove) from Union Station. When you reach the Metro Center stop, transfer to any of the trains on the lower platform: the Blue Line (heading in the direction of Franconia-Springfield), Orange Line (heading in the direction of Vienna), or Silver Line (heading in the direction of Ashburn). Exit at the stop marked Foggy Bottom-GWU.

By Metro (Subway)

If you are traveling by Metro to campus, exit at the Foggy Bottom-GWU station. As you exit the station, you will be at 23rd and I Streets NW.
